I just don’t understand how anyone could leave a child in a hot car.
You simply forget they are with you.
They are in the back seat, they are asleep, particularly if it is not part of your regular routine to have them with you -
and particularly if you are sick or sleep deprived -
it does not require malice.
More often than not, it's absent mindedness rather than intentional.
I don’t either, but with a three month old baby, it could be a matter of sleep deprivation.
Maybe he couldn't carry the baby and his golf clubs at the same time?
Or a pet IMO.
After birth abortion?
You must not have thought about it very long or hard.
Not saying that it SHOULD happen, or is not a tragedy when it does and results in injury or death to the child.
These incidents became common after the law forced parents to put the babies in the back seat. If the baby is not part of the routine, the parent gets absorbed in the radio and routine takes over. He forgets to look in the back seat and goes on with his routine.
This is beyond me. You don’t even leave a dog in a car in the heat/window cracked or not.
Sleeping young children are often unbelievably silent. The law says that they have to be in the back seat and in the case of a baby, that the carrier must be reversed to face the rear. If a parent is a little absent minded and has other things on their mind, it's not hard for them to forget during a long drive that the baby is in the car, especially if they alternate carrying the baby with the other parent.
When this happens, yes it is the parents fault for screwing up, but I have no doubt that a lot of the people who have done this deeply love their children.
I have never left a child in a car, but I do recall noticing on a number of occasions how easily it could have happened.
As usual, we had a hero bringing up the rear in American society. This man is a hero although he should have taken the kid out of the car before calling 911.
