Just got back from exploring the beach. I stopped at 3 locations, the main Navarre Beach parking lot (no tar balls found). 3.5 miles west of the main beach parking lot (scattered tar balls, no more than 1 every 10-15 feet, and very small...no larger than a dime). 7.0 miles west of Navarre Beach has been hit hard. Tar balls are everywhere, and up to the size of the sole on my 10M shoe. They are sticky and slimy, with roughly the consistency of petroleum jelly. They stick to the bottom of your shoes when you walk. Surprisingly, when I picked up a small tar ball and held it up to my nose, it didn't smell like much of anything.

“They can reseal their Birch-Bark-Canoes, again.”
Birch doesn’t grow in Florida, you stupid troglodyte. What is it with the dumb*sses on this thread? Go away, moron.
It’s hard to come back with a retort when you can’t justify your own ignorance, huh? Good luck with your job search.
I dare you to come to Florida and find a Birch tree. Idiot. I’ve lived here for 8 years. I’ve hunted these woods. There are no Birch trees. It’s all Pine forest.
You’re obviously a moron. I live in the panhandle (one word, Einstein.) My house is on the gulf coast in Navarre.
Maybe you're drinking too much beer when you go hunting or fishing.
But don't feel bad, because it's a common problem with liberals, that they can't remember fact.
They just live in their fantasy land of feelings.
Nice picture of New England. Come to northwest Florida. See our lovely beaches, and our Pine Forests. If you want to see deciduous trees, you have to drive six hours to northern Georgia. How did the public education system work out for you?
I’m 5 miles south of the Eglin bombing range. You’ve never seen a Birch tree here. Keep looking. Fly here and form an expedition. I’ve got AC-130’s shooting 25’s, 40’s, and 105’s just outside my door. I’ve been on every waterway within 50 miles, and I’ve been here for 7 years. I’m typing this post from less than 0.5 miles from HWY 98 in Navarre. You can’t win this argument. Find me a Birch tree used by the Seminole to build bark canoes.
You just get in deeper with every word you type.
Have you seen the range map of Eglin?
Keep digging your hole... You need to take your meds.
You are the one who can’t spell!
Your post to highimpact “Your” should be “You’re”.
Regardless, this is a huge disaster. Try to contain your glee.
I live here. I don’t need a public University to tell me what kind of trees are in the forests. They surround me. I hunt them. Don’t blame me if you spend the rest of your life relying on government institutions to tell you what kind of foliage grows around your house. You can Google all you want. All I have to do is look out my front door, you moron. Tell me what kind of grass is growing in my front yard? Tell me what kind of tiles I have on my roof? Will the University of Florida tell you what kind of shrubs I have in my yard? I’m sure the University of Florida can tell you. You’re really quite clever with your cut and paste argument. What a freakin’ idiot you must be to even believe you can win this argument. I LIVE HERE!
There are a lot of strange people on this thread.
Gives FR a bad name.
Good luck to you. Hope this situation gets better soon.
“5 miles south of the Air to Ground Range”, would leave you about 1/2 north of 98,”
That’s what I said. Go back and read it, and then go back to school, and learn how to read. Preferably a private school. Public school has failed you.
Up to this point, is the loss due more to the actual oil spill or the hysteria generated by the press?
“Good luck to you. Hope this situation gets better soon.”
I appreciate the well-wishes. We hope to see you in NW Florida some day.
You’re welcome. Sorry it took so long; not in control of dinner-time!
The fact that Gulf Shores, AL is telling people to stay out of the water doesn’t help. Gulf Shores isn’t cheap.
