You are right, boys and girls! You all chose 2! No dunce caps for you, but maybe there is a poster that needs a dunce cap , ya think?
Looks like you chose #3. I certainly haven't called any posters names much less a bunch of names.
By that logic if I shoot at you and miss you have no complaint and I broke no law. Intelligence fail!
I lobbied hard to have the picture of Soros being hit with a pie taken down off this website. That behavior might be OK if it’s done to a friend, but whether it’s Soros or Ann Coulter it crosses the line, especially when it’s used to prevent or discourage them from speaking
What I don’t understand is so many posters thinking these whalers have legitimacy under the guise of a phony research banner. They ain’t fooling me and why they fool anyone else is beyond me.
Until proven otherwise, big Zero is our president legally. And he will remain so unless he is rightfully impeached for the bribery it appears he has committed, or other crimes. But if some chief of staff announced he’d taken over, I might have to strap mine on.
” No letter of marque and reprisal and you are a pirate. It is just that simple.”
Great. So go to seashepherd.org and you can find the authority under which captain commander Commadore “yes I’m still fat” Watson operates.
Don’t forget that the Captain got shot last season however his bullet proof vest and sheriff “badge” saved his life.
One cannot be “UNLAWFULLY assaulted”. The Sea Hippies admit committing assault in every show and would be convicted in any proper court of assault,
Assault:
“At Common Law, an intentional act by one person that creates an apprehension in another of an imminent harmful or offensive contact.
An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm. It is both a crime and a tort and, therefore, may result in either criminal or civil liability. Generally, the common law definition is the same in criminal and Tort Law. There is, however, an additional Criminal Law category of assault consisting of an attempted but unsuccessful Battery.
Statutory definitions of assault in the various jurisdictions throughout the United States are not substantially different from the common-law definition.
Generally, the essential elements of assault consist of an act intended to cause an apprehension of harmful or offensive contact that causes apprehension of such contact in the victim.
The act required for an assault must be overt. Although words alone are insufficient, they might create an assault when coupled with some action that indicates the ability to carry out the threat. A mere threat to harm is not an assault; however, a threat combined with a raised fist might be sufficient if it causes a reasonable apprehension of harm in the victim.”
What the sea hippies do is assault in any country.
Piracy:
“An illegal act of violence, depredation (e.g., plundering, robbing, or pillaging), or detention in or over international waters committed for private ends by the crew or passengers of a private ship or aircraft against another ship or aircraft or against persons or property on board such ship or aircraft.”
Yea and they are pirates. No you do not get to claim that the assault is justified because they are defending the whales. Neat little lawless world you have constructed in your head. Thousands of years of human civilization and law(s) do not matter to you.
Cool. Of course if he is acting on a letter of letter of marque and reprisal it isn’t Watson that is in trouble. It is the government that issued it. Since his actions then constitute an act of war instead of piracy. Somehow I don’t think any government has issued him with a true letter of marque and reprisal. Nobody sane is going to take that kind of risk.
Thanks for the thoughts.
It seems to me that proving bogus science in either case would be pretty easy to do. Why do the Sea Shepherd people not just sue, get an injunction, and settle it in court. If as you say the weight of the law is against the “poachers” (poachers are those that trespass on private land to take game.) the suit should be a slam dunk.
They appear to have plenty of money to make it happen.
They wouldn't get to be on a neat TV show pretending to be doing something useful like the Alaskan crab fishermen.
I like that show.
That’s what they were seeking all along. They have no standing, please read in the beginning of this thread what they were able to accomplish by making a big stink.
Hey, Wonder why the Sea Shepherd guys aren’t up there harassing the crabbers.
Maybe crabs don’t sing as nice as whales.
The premiers has been available On Demand for a week or so.
Again, analogy doesn’t hold. There is no legal assumption that these whalers are acting legally. Indeed, after years of diplomacy, that is why Australia has just taken Japan to court over this issue.
No kidding. They catch those crabs by the hundreds of thousands, stomp them into the tanks, deliver them to the cannery where they are cut up, alive, in band saws.
I pointed out the assault and attempted murder...the fact they attempt to foul props...which leaves a large vessel without stearing capability in Antarctic waters (which is a death sentence). None of this matters. I pointed out that Watson clearly uses Alinsky's rules for radicals...to no effect.
I watch Whale Wars. To me...it is a perfect example of liberalism as a mental disorder at work. You can see the tactics of liberals first hand (provoke an opponent...then scream...call the press...etc...when the opponent fights back...etc). You can also see what is wrong with liberalism: They are all heart and no brain.
As another poster pointed out...it's like watching the 3 stooges at sea.
Guilty until proven innocent, eh? What are you doing on an American conservative website?
