How do you lose friends over defending Palin? Are you too emotionally invested in her?

Because anyone who hates on her as much as some of the liberals do is not worth being a friend with.

I wouldn't say I am emotionally invested in Palin and for the most part I really keep my thoughts to myself, but when I am talking to liberal members of my family I can only hold my tongue for so long. So, it seems these days that if I don't agree with their point of view or if I send them something to educate them, they get pissy. So, no big deal.

That's a good question to ask. I think it's good to defend conservatism in general, but not to put too many eggs in any one person's basket. I do like Mrs. Palin, but I just don't get tingles up my leg about anyone any more.

I think both of you have it backwards. Liberals are way, way, way too emotionally invested in hating Palin for any number of personal reasons.

For many of them, simply and calmly telling the truth about her is automatically interpreted as a horrible attack on their feelings.

People become liberals or conservative based on deeply held beliefs. Those beliefs - reflections of who we are - keep us from being friends with each other. As they should.

It's why the liberal concept of "diversity" is stupid. Liberals think differences have to do with sex organs, or pigmentation, or physical characteristic's. Real "diversity" always has to do with beliefs ... And I find fewer and fewer liberals I have anything in common with. Their belief come from a poisoned well - I can't go there. I choose not to go there.

With a young person - it's OK - hope can trump reality with the young. But with an older person - it's a reflection of who they really are.

You didn’t have much of a friend to begin with.
She is smart and has morals.
Anyone refusing to see that isn’t really worth troubling yourself over the loss...(st?)
