This is a VERY special video
VJ Day, Honolulu Hawaii, August 14, 1945
“65 Years Ago my Dad shot this film along Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki capturing spontaneous celebrations that broke out upon first hearing news of the Japanese surrender. Kodachrome 16mm film..” [in original color]
Thanks! That is a cool video!
I loved the video. 65 years ago !
I bet if the same celebration would have happened today, there would have been many tickets written for being on top of cars, no seat belts worn. 0bama would try to get an excessive celebration law passed to prevent that kind of enthusiasm.
What a great video from Honolulu! Thanks for sharing! If they were celebrating like that today everyone would be arrested for not wearing seat belts, smoking in public and drinking. God Bless the USA and what a generation!
Thanks for sharing that video!
Thank you for posting. This is a wonderful video. The color brings it to life and it is as if we are there. Imagine the feeling it must have been to celebrate the end of this war. My father was a young Lieutenant - a Combat Engineer in the Pacific at this time.
I have forwarded this on to many who would appreciate.
Awesome!
