Perfection! Phillies ace Roy Halladay didn’t allow a hit or a walk and struck out 11 Marlins as the Phillies beat the Marlins 1-0.

So, both Florida teams have been perfect-gamed this year. Weird.

Wow. Is this an epidemic? The second perfect game in less than a month?

Ah its just too bad we still don’t have him here in Toronto, but wouldn’t have been fair to him, glad he is doing so well :)

Sadly, in this era of rampant steroid use, I don’t know what to make of it. Hate to be a curmudgeon, but the sad fact is they could all be on drugs. Maybe that just levels out the field, eh?

I’m glad we have him. Philly needs every positive thing we can get.

Their nutrition and training regimens are vastly superior to the early years of baseball but supplements/enhancers are a lot easier to consume so some likely take the shortcuts, perils be damned.

As long as beer is not banned, I say, Play Ball!

and go TWinkies!

Indeed! Let the players smoke during post-game interviews and gimme more salt in my stadium food and I won’t complain much.

I remember when Sandy Koufax pitched the no hitter in 1965, it was a huge event and everyone talked about it.

I don't believe there has even been a year with two perfect games in the history of baseball!

I just emailed congrats to a Philly’s fan buddy of mine. But, with the number of runs they’ve been scoring lately, they’re gonna need at least a shut out pitched every time!

The 20th in the modern era. And, y’know when that started? In 1893—that’s when they moved the mound to 60’6”.

Why does it seem like any time a pitcher pitches a perfect game or a no-hitter, his team can only muster a run or two?

In high school I played on the local American Legion baseball team. We were BAD, I mean really, really bad. We didn’t even have 9 guys in town who wanted to play so the next town had some extras who signed up late. We took them to have enough to field a team. One of them was an outstanding left-handed pitcher.

He threw 2 no-hitters that year and due to errors we lost both of them! He also threw one perfect game and that one we managed to win. I think he may have struck darn near everyone out that he faced - few fielding attempts for us to commit errors on. He chose not to come back and play on our team the next year. Wonder why?

hell of a pen. race that year to. Sandy’s perfecto was just a 3 or 3 weeks after Juan M. brained Roseboro on the dome with his bat! great year for Mays. in ‘65 also.
