I’ll add to your semi-rant by saying the new “in” thing is to show up to tech jobs dressed like you’re on a beach in Hawaii, having not shaved for a week and needing about 6 inches off the top.
Flip flops have been around at the beach forever, but I’d say in the last 5 years they’ve really taken off and became popular with teens. The whole “beach look” with the American Eagle or Holister T-shirts and shorts are “in” with the teen crowd. I see girls in HS everyday and I think every girl has every color flip flop. When I was a kid flip flops were uncomfortable but now you get two pairs for $5.00 at the mall (at old navy) and they’re comfy. Of course I’ve also seen girls in $50 flip flops and I just say “why?”Most girls still know when to wear nice shoes, but many don’t, and I guess they’re parents don’t tell them. I’ve seen flip flops At church, but not on my kids.
That’s not “new”...
