Surprisingly, California already has laws on its books very similar to the one recently passed in Arizona. (They're not being enforced, of course.)

Maybe if enough people were to call the governor's office and demand an Arizona type law, we could at least let him know that there would be considerable support for it. I'm thinking that, if you subtract the liberal college students, the San Fran wingnuts, limousine liberals in Marin County who just love their cheap maids and yard men, and the illegal aliens (which currently comprise about 7% of California's population), then you would still have about 30 million people whose lives are negatively impacted by illegal aliens, in one way or another.

You might think that, because California voted overwhelmingly for Obama, that an Arizona law would be unpopular. But a diehard Obama supporter who is out of work, can't find a decent place to live because illegals are causing a housing shortage, and is afraid to let his children play in the neighborhood because of gang activity, would be grateful for a government that actually enforces the immigration laws. I'm thinking there might be a lot of Californians like that.
