At times I have seen others asking for prayer for a loved one.
Today I am asking for prayers for my Dad.
At luuch yesterday, with my brother and sister in attendance, my Dad tells us that he has seen his urologist that morning and was told his PSA reading is 150. A year ago at his regular checkup it was 50.
My Dad had prostate cancer about 14 years ago and because his PSA level was low opted for the seed treatment where they place radioactive pellets in the prostate to kill the cancer cells. This seemed to work and he has been cancer free since then.
His is now 86, will be 87 in August, and has had a few health problems in the last five years including heart bypass surgery and a bladder infection. But he is remarkable in that he has faced all these adversities and bounced back and for 86 he is in remarkable shape.
As my sister says he is a beat the odds type of guy in almost every respect. Everything I know and learned about life and Conservatism I owe to him and the thought of another medical crisis is almost more than I can bear.
Well tomorrow he is having a bone scan to see if he has cancer again and if it has spread anywhere. If not then he may have to have surgery to remove the prostate.
So I would like to ask that he put on the Free Republic Prayer list, his name is Leslie and I appreciate any and all help and hope our Dear Lord hears those prayers.
If there are any doctors who read this and have any advice I am open to it.
Thank you one and all, May God Bless All of You Here.

Prayers for all of you.
You definitely have our prayers. God bless your Dad.
Your beloved father is in my prayers.
” A year ago at his regular checkup it was 50.”
His oncologist should have gotten on it then. You should consult with his oncologist. At his age, he is unlikely to die from the cancer. I suspect the Dr. has him in “watchful waiting” status. I had seed therapy 14 years ago and my PSA is still 0.00.
Where two or more are gathered, asking in Jesus name, we can be sure that something good will happen, even if the answer is no.
Thanks,
Maria
I just realized that you are in Arkansas. Are you close to Memphis? If so the West Clinic is the best. We used them for my husband.
Prayers here for Leslie as well.
Stay strong Capt’n.
Prayers up.
Well his Doctor told him he was concerned but not overly so. Although he should have run more tests. Now they did do a bone scan and nothing turned up so my guess is that his urologist felt his age may have been a factor in the rise of the PSA reading.
Thank you will check into that.
Prayers on the way!
Prayers for your Dad. I am not a Doc, but would recommend he get another PSA test done. Some things can cause false positives and maybe the screen that showed 150 was elevated for some reason. Second opinions never hurt.
I’m not a Doc, but PSA can have false positives. Have your Dad get another test in a month to confirm results. Many things can cause false positives, so a second opinion never hurts. Prayers to you, your Dad, and family.
Prayers for y’all.
Prayers on the way Coldwater. May God bring you healing and Grace.
I join in urgent prayer for your dad!
Prayer sent up.
