None of this is strange. Syria and Lebanon share in a history of having a wide variety of Islamic sects and subsects, and even people who participate in syncretic religions based vaguely on Christianity, Islam and Judaism (and probably other stuff).

Odds are good that somewhere around there you can find still active Ba'al worshippers ~ but they'll call themselves something else and "no, you may not attend prayers with us ~ it is haram".

No, I meant strange of the timing of having our first Muslim Miss America. The timing of it really raises some eye brows ? Ya know ? Call me Mel Gibson but I am a bit paranoid lately of EVERYTHING in the world. A bit too much Murphy law mixed with gut feelings.

None of this is strange.

The BP gas station (BP? OMG!) I've considered my fueling station for the past 9 years is owned by a Lebanese guy who made his way here from Lebanon to Italy to the U.S. He owns the biggest gas complex along the strip which includes his gas station that now sells beer and alcohol, an attached motoscooter and RV center and a full automotive repair facility.

I don't know who his family is, or who he's related to back in Lebanon. All I know is that on any given weekend during the summer, he is allowing his CATHOLIC church or some local school to run car washes on the lot and Boy Scout groups to sell their popcorn outside the store..........

I'm certainly not going to condemn the new Miss USA because of the writings of some jaded, talk show wannabe hack named Debbie Schlussel.........

In her attempt to make headline news, she's really outdone her ignorance on this one.............
