Have you been east to Ashville, NC. The amazing Biltmore Estate [250 rooms] is quite something to see. The gardens are wonderful.

When the captains of industry came to build summer cottages in Newport, RI ...they tried to outdo each other.

One of my favorite "famous" houses in the US is Mark Twain's Nook Farm.

I've never had a chance to tour the Biltmore site although I've seen and read much about it. What an army of servants and workers the place must have needed!

In addition to Twain's house I found an online site of Historic Buildings of Connecticut. Beautiful places!

Twain's old place shows what $131,000 would buy back then.
