It's a trap, honest it is.
It's a plot to get you to head through the door with the professionally done sign, which we all know is a sure sign of a trap around these parts.
And then the Z.O.M-B units show up, stomp everything to puce chartreuse moose nibblets, and THAT brings the guys from the Unngh and Moose out to party on over at the Rampant Spork Weasel.
It's definitely a trap.

Wait.. nobody is mentioning the door with the professional sign on it?
*Eyes shift left and right*
I'll be over in the underkeep if anyone needs me.
*Beats a hasty exit out side door*

"Well, I mean...what is this Castle for, if not the occasional “bad idea?” I mean, progress is made from bad ideas that turned out to be good."

"What’s the difference between the food simulator on Star Trek and Darks’ Magick FAX?"

"The Castle", so to speak, supports investigative developments. Dark's Magick FAX being one of them, (not to mention the ill-fated Fax Maxhine).

The Star Trek device is a replicator, not a simulator. Our Castle researchers have been developing a food synthesizer of limited menu. It functions by using dry ingredients, along with heat and water, to micro-mix and micro cook certain food items.

Check your cookbooks for items that can be made from scratch, with dry ingredients stored in your pantry. It's definitely a limited menu, but it includes a large number of simple cakes, cookies, and breads.

It's the special ingredients and flavorings that are most difficult and tricky to deal with. As new developments become available, we will let you know.

Sugar cookie, anyone?

A glass of Atholl Brose, please?

At the same time? *shudder*

You can make hummus from a mix, quite easily, although it lacks the fibrous heft of hand-mashed beans.

Yes. You pack away the sugar cookie for later (or someone else) and drink the Atholl Brose.

I have actually had Atholl Brose. We had some Scottische-types in the SCA in San Antonio who made it. Local mead was better ;-).

We use an SCA recipe from ca 1988. Very good! Others in the Gaelic society make it from other recipes, usually watery to just so-so. I have yet to encounter a mead that comes close to our Atholl Brose, though if/when I retire I may try.

We had a couple of guys who could really make mead. You could lose a whole week with that stuff! Er, not that I did ...

Recipes please! I have a couple of booklets from the mid-70s (soon after I encountered a good mead wine), but have never tried it myself.

Good night, I think I am soon offline for the night.

I lost a whole week with rum and Thai beer, just recently.
Never go to a foreign bar that advertises to the Navy. Or that says ‘Metallica’ in gigantic letters on it.

Stopping in to prove, without a doubt, that I am still alive. Thailand is crazy. I am ready to leave, having done everything there is to do here. (Readily, on a small supply of cash, with Coast Guard permission.)
I spent yesterday being pissed off about the government using the CG as the scapegoat for their oil pipeline screw-ups. Nobody else knew what I was talking about, as, apparently, they don’t follow the news underway. That’s their own faults. Their lack of interest in economics, religion, 16th-century Spanish politics, or Babylon 5 is also their own faults.
Today I went out looking for dinner, having decided that the boat food is Unsatisfactory, and ended up eating fried rice with chicken. And a fried egg. For supper, I will have rice with beef instead. And another egg, most likely.

Good morning! Or whatever day it is there. We’re p.o.’d at the government, too. Your dad says the radio hosts he listens to are getting quite rabid. Hopefully nobody will hassle your shipmates about being instruments of environmental destruction, since they have no idea what’s going on. I got a chewing out in West Virginia once because I worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. “I’m sorry, sir, I’m just a typist. In Norfolk, not even around here!”

I could skip having a fried egg with all the meals. It’s like food in Missouri. Gail says Hi and she’s glad you’re having an interesting time in the Pacific. We babysat her granddaughter on Wednesday. They still don’t have the custody sorted; Gail said they’ll have the big court battle in October. The girl will be starting school here, come hell or high water.

I’m going to the Spanish Charismatic retreat today. Charismatics don’t need a common language ;-). I’ll put up a picture or two before I go; didn’t want to email them to the boat without authorization!
