Google says that woodpecker lives in the Sonora Desert. Have you ever seen one?

Remember that tree by the front porch, with the weeping branches? A woodpecker has put hundreds of holes in it, causing sap to pour out and attracting swarms of bees. It’s a mess - and I’ve been working with an Arborist for the past six months, trying to save the tree! (Same tree also has ‘boring flies’ boring holes in it, squirrels tearing the bark off and roof-rats gnawing into the wood.)

The poor tree has suffered major damage to all the critters, but the woodpecker has done the most extensive damage.
