“the Senate refused to carry through with the trial; there was NO “Not Guilty” verdict. There was no verdict because there was no trial. Pity.”

There was a trial, presided over by Chief Justice Rehnquist and not guilty votes were delivered by the Senate on all articles.

It’s not like any of that is ancient history.

You're right......My bad. There was a trial and there were votes Not to Convict on two articles of impeachment. There were, I think, a couple of other articles that were not voted on, but my point was he WAS impeached. The trial by the Senate is a separate thing deriving from the House vote to impeach. Still a disgrace, IMHO. My memory gets hazy past ten minutes or so.
