No one in this article is actually recognizing the cats’ habits or needs. They are humanizing their instincts and attributing human emotion.
Feral cats, like any wild animal, are lead by two things, need for food, need for procreation. Period. In my years of volunteering at animal shelters, I saw many a feral cat given a forever home, far away from it’s original turf. They do just fine. They are not human and are not sentimental, pining for the old turf.
