His personal experience would be very much the same in pretty much every other state. Federal mandates play a big part in our child support laws and bureaucracy is pretty much the same no matter where you go.
I guess what I should have said was personal experience inspired him but proximity to Michigan may have been what prompted him to choose that state. Just a guess...
