They think they are Christian, in fact they think they are the ONLY Christians, the rest of us are in league with Satan.

Also, they market themselves as Christians to get people interested in the LDS church. Many people do not research Mormonism before they join. If an investigator (potential Mormon convert) has questions or reads anything ‘anti’ they are bombed with the LDS telling them that it is Satan trying to keep them from joining the ‘one true church’.

And it is a perfect example of ‘lying for the Lord’. Do anything to make ‘the Church’ look good and that includes lying. God commands that. It also serves to discredit those who fight Mormonism.

Remember that the LDS believe they have to ‘help’ Christ.

And, your assumption that we quarrel over the Bible is typical LDS SOP. Christians agree on all the major points (person work and nature of Christ and God), the rest is not matter of salvation.

They don’t think they are anything but Latter Day Saints. Their modern doctrine make it clear.

I really hate piling on them but they make clear they are the perfect religion and all others are inferior, with choices to be made in some distant state.

If all Christians are apostacy and Whores of Babylon, why would they suddenly in this day, claim parity? Doesn’t make sense, unless one is, by subterfuge pretending to a thing, they are not, if only to draw prey for quartering through shame of error.

Christianity is a good marketing ploy. If people see them as ‘just another Christian church’ then it is easier to get converts.

Not even close. Your defense is what I called ‘lame’. No matter what definition of cult you use it applies to the LDS. Google the discipline and the word ‘cult’. My definitions are basic to theology, anthropology and sociology 101. I have degrees or professional experience in all three. Would you like popular sources or professional ones (depends on your current knowledge of the subjects)?

The attempt at diversion by pointing to different denominations does not work. All Christians agree on the majors (person work and nature of Jesus Christ) and agree with the historical creeds. The LDS do neither.

Asking God for the ‘truth’ is also unbiblical. Our feelings are not a reliable source of the truth. The BIBLE is. If our feelings contradict the Bible (like Mormon doctrine) then our feelings are NOT of God. Simple.

Your appeal to Moroni’s promise places the burden on the faith of the individual. IOW, if a person doesn’t get the ‘mormon answer’ then there is something wrong with THEM, not Mormonism. False dichotomy.

But I will say you have been trained well by your ‘handlers’, you are hitting all the LDS talking points, ones that we see every week and are easily disproved.

Stick around, you may learn the truth about Mormonism.

A true Christian is what to you, if it isn’t just someone who strives to be like Christ? Are you implying that we need to do more than Christ? I’m sorry, but I personally believe that that is not possible. We cannot come close.

Also, Latter-Day Saints ARE Christians; they use the English translation of the King James Bible, which is the first and most accurate version.

Joseph Smith was a famous Preacher in the Eastern USA. His teaching empire grew to include acquisition of valuable printing assets and intimate dealings with the Missouri courts.

 

 He devoted several years of his early life to exploratory service, finally taking leave to assume his dealings with various Spiritual Beings.

 

As an adjunct to his exploratory work, Mummies and papyrus are purchased from Michael Chandler.  On July 19, 1835 at age 29; Joseph began translating the papyrus. It will be known as the Book of Abraham, generating quite a lot of interest by leading archeological experts.

 

 In 1844, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the authorities in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois. That same month, Smith passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the excitable group who had come to visit him pressed too many into the room he was in and his death resulted.

AUTHORITY TO TRANSLATE.

 

The Prophet Joseph Smith claimed a divine appointment to make an inspired rendition or, as he termed it, a "new translation" of the Bible. This appointment can be illustrated by excerpts from his writings. After laboring off and on for ten months on the early chapters of Genesis, Joseph Smith received a revelation from the Lord on March 7, 1831, directing him to begin work on the New Testament: "It shall not be given unto you to know any further concerning this chapter, until the New Testament be translated, and in it all these things shall be made known; wherefore I give unto you that ye may now translate it" (D&C 45:60-61).

 

The manuscript of the JST shows that Joseph Smith began the translation of Matthew the next day. On December 1, 1831, the Prophet entered the following in his journal: "I resumed the translation of the Scriptures, and continued to labor in this branch of my calling with Elder Sidney Rigdon as my scribe" (HC 1:238-39). On February 16, 1832, he reported a revelation concerning the resurrection of the dead that includes the following reference to his divine commission to translate: "For while we [Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon] were doing the work of translation, which the Lord had appointed unto us, we came to the twenty-ninth verse of the fifth chapter of John" (D&C 76:15). On March 8, 1833, he reported the word of the Lord to him as follows: "And when you have finished the translation of the [Old Testament] prophets, you shall from thenceforth preside over the affairs of the church" (D&C 90:13). On May 6, 1833, Joseph Smith reported the following revelation: "It is my will that you should hasten to translate my scriptures" (D&C 93:53). Although not a complete list, the foregoing items illustrate Joseph Smith's claim to a divine appointment to translate the Old and New Testaments.
