Damn right. I have two things I want to happen before I die. One is to see life discovered on another planet. Not necessarily intelligent life, a one cell organism would be fine. Just to know it’s possible.

The other is to have something solid go faster than light. Just a projectile would be cool. Again, just to know it’s possible.

I think the first one might be doable.

Recall, dear reader, that conventional theory postulates that Earth’s early atmosphere had no oxygen in it when life developed. When poisonous oxygen appeared (due to plants?) the existing life had to adapt to oxygen or die. Apparently, some of these original organism’s descendents are still hanging around.
