The typical portable user, the OS is really irrellevant. Lets face it, as long as I can work on the documents I need to work on, check my email and look at my pictures and watch movies and download porn, I’m golden.
That’s the typical user model for the majority of PCs.
This isn’t 1995 anymore, OS is not important to the end user, because compatibility issues with file formats etc are not what they were.
No doubt iPhone OS is not OSX or Win 7, but it is a framework that gives the end user what they will need for most portable users.
As I said time will tell, but the user interaction of the iPhone OS is game changing, and placing it on a tablet is a game changer for the tablet space and likely could bring it very main stream.
Like I said, time will tell.. could be lightning in a bottle, or could be a doorstop. If it performs as promised, I’d put it toward the prior, if it doesn’t, it will be the latter.
I find it to be an interesting gadget, but it won’t replace a laptop for the overwhelming majority of business users.
