Sure. I know successful people who are nice too.
But if you only do business with nice guys who can’t run a business, then you won’t do any business at all.
And “FYI” , where is your PROOF that “MOST business leaders operated that way”? Is it from your extensive business experience with successful businessmen at the turn of the last century?

How about doing business with honest people who CAN run a business?? My partners and I are squeakingly honest, and we try to live up not just to the letter of our agreements, but the spirit, as well. Same for the gentleman (and he IS a gentleman) I referred to previously. Our business is successful, and has been for the past 15 years.
And yes, we've gotten screwed a few times when we entered into agreements with other folks who operated the other way. Funny thing about that, though, once they were cut off from our continuing ability to provide innovations, the things they tried to do have mostly failed, or been seriously slowed down.

It's called "having read history". And I would bet that even today, a majority of business owners operate on the basis of honesty. They may not be a constitute a majority of business capitalizion, but as a percentage of business owners/operators, they are.

Well, true, but that opinion is based on an extensive amount of reading.
