More people need to take the Nolan test. If they did they would realize most of us here are libertarian, not conservatives. Unfortunately for our political discourse, that Libertarian label got hijacked along the way.

I’ve always struggled to distinguish libertarianism from conservatism.

One day I was hanging out with a conservative buddy, and a local Libertarian candidate happened by. I asked him what the difference was. First, I made sure he wasn’t into it just to legalize pot.

He listed about 20 things his group stands for, and to each one we said that’s the same thing we believed. When he ran out of “differences” I suggested the reason he was in the Libertarian Party was that he was sincere about his beliefs but was afraid of winning.

He had no response.
