Well, for me, tonight was a big steaming pile of “MEH”. I love sinatra, I love Harry Connick Jr., but the performances left me feeling let down.

It was like the spotlight was on Harry and his arrangements and not on the contestants. Tonight did nothing to give me anything new on these guys, and if anything just highlighted that none of them are worthy of holding Sinatra’s house shoes (Bet ya’ll thought I was gonna say something else hehe).

Anyway, on to the rankings, not that they matter:

1. Michael Lynche - The Way You Look Tonight - Mike came the closest to capturing the Sinatra swagger and persona. I thought this was a very bluesy sweet arrangement, and MIke delivered some velvetty smooth lyrics. Not blown away by it, but it was enjoyable.

2. Crystal Bowersox - Summer Wind - I thought this was a beautifully understated performance. It was a nice sweet song, but as such lacked any real oomph. Again, just a decent enjoyable performance.

3. Lee Dewyze - That’s Life - I agonized over where to rate this. Arrangement wise I thought it was the performance of the night, but I could just not get past the plethora of sharp and flat notes that kept deflating the ballon right as it was ready to soar. I love tone Lee’s voice and his rasp, but the dude is just all over the place when he sings.

4. Casey James - Blue Skies - I liked this a lot more than the judges did, that is for sure. I thought it was a cool arrangement and loved the bluesy feel of it. But, I do agree with Kara on one thing, Casey’s annoying Vibrato was out in full force.

5. Aaron Kelly - Fly Me To The Moon - As far as Aaron performances go, I liked this one better than most. That said, this song just completely swallowed him. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it lacked that POP POP POP delivery that Sinatra gave it. Simon said it best with his Lion/Mouse analogy.

SHOULD GO HOME: AARON. The Kid is a nice kid, and has a decent voice, but he really is not better than the other remaining contestants.

WILL GO HOME: CASEY. Reality here, Aaron has the teen text vote locked up, and Crystal & Big Mike are not going anywhere. That leaves Lee and Casey fighting for the ther voters, and Lee has outperformed Casey. Add to it Casey being bottom 2 the last 2 weeks, and this one is academic.
