FYI, Sr. Leahy has scrubbed the discussion of the “two US citizen parents” and the Senate Resolution 511 for McCain’s eligibility from his site. Or at least it wasn’t where it used to be and a search of his site didn’t find it.

It is at scribd but it needs to watched.

Thanks for posting that. I hadn't read it in a while.

After reading it again in the proper context, it certainly appears that we have Senators Leahy and Specter, Secretary Chertoff and others in AGREEMENT that TWO American Citizen ParentS are REQUIRED to be a NBC.

This despite the fact that they — as did Fukino from Hawaii's DOH nearly 15 months later — erroneously refer to the Presidential Eligibility requirement as a "natural-born American citizen", instead of a "natural-born citizen" as the Constitution specifically requires. It's minor semantics, but it's telling ...

It's obvious to me that they ALL are trying to take the focus off of Obama's status as a British subject, who co-sponsored this Bill.

Chairman Leahy: We will come back to that. I would mention one other thing, if I might, Senator Specter. Let me just ask this: I believe—and we have had some question in this Committee to have a special law passed declaring that Senator McCain, who was born in the Panama Canal, that he meets the constitutional requirement to be President. I fully believe he does. I have never had any question in my mind that he meets our constitutional requirement. You are a former Federal judge. You are the head of the agency that executes Federal immigration law. Do you have any doubt in your mind—I mean, I have none in mine. Do you have any doubt in your mind that he is constitutionally eligible to become President?

Secretary Chertoff: My assumption and my understanding is that if you are born of American parents, you are naturally a natural-born American citizen.

Chairman Leahy: That is mine, too. Thank you.

However, it certainly appears they agree with Vattel:
