My brother is mentally ill and has been for over thirty years. He is not “hooked” on being disabled, he is disabled. He is not addicted to seeing a doctor, he must see a doctor in order to get his medications. He is not living off of disability like he has never worked before, or like he is not truly disabled. He did hold jobs frequently during his first thirty years of life, but lacked the mental functioning to continue on when his illness would interfere with simple every day functioning. This is a man who cannot watch a one hour television program because his brain cannot process that much information, he hasn’t read a book in decades. He became mentally ill as a teenager and has had lived his entire adult life as a schizophrenic. He is considered a “high functioning” schizophrenic but still lives on the edges of society, no matter how he has stuggled.
Your lack of understanding of the mentally ill and empathy for them is breathtaking.
People who are truly sick I have nothing but prayers for. Those who are truly disabled should get the best care we can give them. I am sorry you feel I have no empathy & a lack of understanding toward the mentally ill. However I feel you are wrong & didn't understand who I was posting about. I do feel if you kill & are crazy that you do belong locked away.
