Obama to throw out ceremonial 1st pitch

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Barack Obama will throw out the ceremonial first ball at the Washington Nationals' opener, marking the 100th anniversary of a presidential pitch to start the season.
William Howard Taft first did it on April 14, 1910. This will be the 48th time a president has made an opening-day pitch in the nation's capital.
The Nationals open at home on April 5 against the Philadelphia Phillies

My Grandmother loved baseball - for her 90th birthday, I pulled some strings and got her over to Camden Yards as a guest of the Orioles ...
Had GREAT seats behind their dugout and were down on the field during warm-ups, but [and this BLEW me away], she asked if she could play catch with Cal Ripken ... he said okay.
So, he starts out tossing to her from like 10 feet [figuring she couldn’t throw further]. She fires back and snaps his glove. She then tells him to back up. He goes to 20 feet - same result.
This goes on until they are about 50 feet away - and she’s snapping his glove EVERYTIME !!!
I have no doubt that if she and Obama were asked to put it over the plate - she could, and he would girlie-toss ...
