I am also a recent graduate. I did the whole monster.com route and could not get an interview. A career counselor at my college had me first rewrite my resume and told me that this job climate is the worst he has seen in some time but not to give up hope. He then asked me what my passion was and I just looked at him. I had forgotten my passion. He said that when you are passionate about something it shows through to those looking for employees. Right now I have a part time job doing research for a doctor who is writing a book. I look for research she does not have time to search for herself. I found the job on Craigslist. The research I am doing right now is slightly in my passion area, but it is giving me time to plan what I really want to do. Hope this helps.
Wonderful advice. God bless you and know that you will be doing the work that you are fully passionate about - soon!
What a tremendously helpful thread! Will pass along to a few people who need this info.
God bless all who are looking for work.
My only recommendation is to totally ignore the claims that the economy is bad, or that jobs are hard to find, or that work is not easy to get at this time.
Put such talk, thoughts, OUT of your mind and your speech.
Instead, thank God (Looks like you know Him, right?) every day for the work that He has for you to do!
God has a plan and a purpose for your life - and He wants to guide you step by step into that plan/purpose.
It is not something to worry or fret about (and it doesn’t look as if you are worried - so good).
You may do this already, but I would recommend you start every day with maybe 15 to 20 minutes reading His Word - wherever you want to read in His Word is fine - just ask Him to bless the meditation of your heart and the words of your mouth - and He will speak to you through whatever part of His Word you choose to read each day. Just a few verses are fine.
Include a few minutes/words to Praise and Thank Him who bore your sins, your worries, your affirmities, your diseases, on the cross where He poured out His Life and His Blood for you, to forgive and cleanse you of all your sins and to bring you into His Kingdom and to give you New Life (resurrection life) in Him, and to write your name in the Lamb’s book of Life - so you will be with the Lord Jesus and all His saints forever!
He says that the hairs on your head are numbered, and that He knows your rising up and your lying down, your goings and your comings, and that no matter where you go or what you do, He is right there with you!
Then ask Him to guide your steps that day, and to make the words of your mouth to glorify Him (May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight Oh Lord my strength and my Redeemer).
Thank Him for pouring out His Holy Spirit on you and on all you do and all you meet and talk to that day.
Then just rejoice in Him, His provision for you, His promised ordering of your steps (If you seek Him first, all these things will be added unto you....job, work, spouse, friends, income).
I will promise each day will be an adventure and a joy!!
God bless you and please report back on your adventures!
