The big one - it's the 3.8% surtax on passive income and capital investments to the extent such income causes your adjusted gross to exceed $250K. That's been adjusted a bit.
The floor has moved somewhat. And folks ain't gonna like it.
The floors associated with this calculation are now:
$250K - married filing joint
$125K - married filing separately
$200K - single
Note the rather blatent marriage penalty!
Other provisions include the indexing to inflation for the subsidy provisions (meaning they will get worse with time!) starting with 2014. The indexing changes a bit now in 2018 - with the index changing to the medical care inflation rate (guaranteed to be higher under this legislation particularly when you see --->) but to the extent that it (subsidies in the aggregate) exceeds 0.504% (who came up with that number??) of GDP.
[As an aside - that number is approximately $60 billion, which is approximately $200 per capita. Since the insurance industry KNOWS that anyone making less than $88K/annum is going to be subsidized to some extent, how much you wanna bet the increases will close on that number per year?]
But, then again, the penalty for not having insurance actually went down (very slightly) if I understood the provision correctly (I think I need a HCR version of TurboTax to calculate it accurately!). If that's so, with the no pre-existing conditions rule, look for insurance companies to have to jack rates to cover all those who got sick and then decided it was time for insurance (look back to the last paragraph!!!)
Adult dependents until 26 - that results in imputed income. Fun calculation at tax time! It also means (so much for no middle income class tax hike!) that if your 24-year old child is not a dependent but you put them on your health plan because your kid's employer doesn't offer health insurance, and the single person plan in your insurance is $500, you pay tax on the $500. Thank you very much!
There's likely more, but that's what I've found out so far.
