Grassley Shocked
Travel notes from Senator Charles Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Finance Committee who ultimately balked at the Finance bill put forward in his chamber. Tonight, Senator Grassley tweets: Flying bk DC Sun aftrnoon instead of Mon morn to get ahead of curve on Health/Stupak move shockedme I thought his stance wld hv kild bill.
In case youre not accustomed to Mr. Grassleys tweets or abbreviations (as well as some of ours in that 140-character limit), the Iowa senator is indicating that hes shocked that Mr. Stupak would decide to vote for the health-care bill. Mr. Grassley anticipated that Mr. Stupaks stance against abortion wouldve killed the bill.
Of course, maybe you figured out the shorter version.

Can you say “STUPID Party.”
Senator Grassley you were duped like we were. Anyone with a (D) next to their name cannot be trusted. This is what we have found out during this whole process.
He wasn’t shocked.
Well Sen. Grassley, we’re shocked that you’re shocked!
Did you expect ‘the distinguished congressman’ (D)-Rat to be trusted? Wake up old man! Why is it that we, the common folks, have more sense than you morons in DC?
What a dumb ass. Another poster boy for what is wrong with the GOP...
Bears repeating. Lesson learned.
I won't give another liberal an inch. They are completely untrustworthy. I always really knew that but would give the benefit of the doubt. No more.
Is Sen Grassley for real? Stupak voted for the first bill, why would he be shocked at voting for the second one?
What stupid party? All the Republicans voted against this and that is all what they can do. Enough idiocy and attacking our side, you are the stupid one for doing so.
Many are not happy that republicans are ‘surprised’ when rats lie, it seems to most that our reps should EXPECT rats to lie it is who they are.
Is Grassley that stupid? Or, does he think we’re that stupid to think he’s that stupid?
Grassley is just one of the many idiots.Surprised? My ass.
I am going to say this once tonight.
BS.
There is NO such thing as a pro-life Democrat. You are either WITH us or against us. The ones that are voting No are only voting No because they want to save their seats. If they REALLY believed this was an atrocity like we do, they’d frickin leave the Democratic party. They would NOT vote for Pelosi as speaker. But they do - it’s the same damn thing.
I couldn’t give a rat’s ass that Heresth-Sandlin or Gene Taylor pretend to vote “no” to save their political careers. Who do you think they would vote for come tomorrow if they had to vote for speaker? Pelosi.
So F them. They have no principles except their own goal of power and dictatorship.
Frankly - if I were a congressperson on the floor, I’d start singing the national anthem. Let them shut us down...
Grassley is like all GOP idiots on the Hill. They take at face value anything conciliatory a Democrat tells them, and then are shocked when that Democrat flips. Duh. Someone needs to send a gigantic memo to all the GOP leadership tonight: Democrats are this country’s ENEMIES. They are not your “friends across the aisle,” they are not your “colleagues,” they do NOT deserve your “with all due respects,” THEY ARE THE ENEMY WITHIN. Get it straight now!!
Sen. Grassley is one of the good guys.
Not just saying that because I’m from Iowa. Really.
Objectively, he seems easy to make the case as evidence of a decent and honest man, afaik he is a real farmer from New Hartford. No, he’s not a rock star or camera hog. And I predict (insofar it is difficult to make predictions, esp. about the future) that others emulating his conduct and support of his home state over the years will be at a premium sooner than you think. For one thing, politicians like to hold people to standards they themselves can’t or won’t hold, if it is in their interests. It’s a lot tougher to bust guys like Grassley. Why do you suppose that is?
The chuckster isn’t a serial rapist or uh, embezzler or tax cheat, etc etc, and so on, ad infinitum ad nauseam; (apparently) unlike some of his colleagues over the years. So I don’t really understand why some on this board criticise so much.
Maybe if every other phrase out of Chuck’s mouth was something other than “bi-partisan,” we wouldn’t have gotten to this point.
Surely no one is that naive.
But it hardly matters. Whether they’re faking it or just stupid the result is the same: a dead American republic.
what truck did he fall off of
The Chuckster (as you so quaintly put it) should be voted out of office promptly. He is an incompetent boob. Any Republican who doesn’t know what he up against doesn’t deserve to be elected. The Chuckster needs to go back to his farm. Forever.
