Another year, another reason to raise bloody hell over who didn't get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and who did. Tonight, a fresh class of five historic names will march into the coveted main hall: ABBA, Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, the Hollies and the Stooges.

Probably the two women on earth who had the most influence on my “fashion sense”.
[with a little Mad Max tossed in]
;-D
Back in 1980, I had shoulder length hair that I’d dyed blue-black and my [then] brother-in-law would always have me sing “I Love Rock And Roll” when his little garage band practiced.
*sigh*
I miss the Reagan years.
My, but I don’t recognize the names of most of those would-be entrants. May have something to do with ceasing to listen to pop music after 1969.
With one exception, I have heard ABBA and can readily understand why they made the cut. Damn, those Swedes could rock, you know?
Heart should be in there.
He won’t listen to ya ‘cuz his head is like a sieve.
Dave Edmunds
Ian Hunter (with or post Mott The Hoople)
Slade
Nazareth
etc....
nobama...doesn’t deserve in because he is a marxist tool.
White Rabbit and Somebody To Love were first written and recorded by The Great Society. Grace rerecorded them when she joined Jefferson Airplane.
Add The 13th Floor Elevators to this list and Sir Douglas Quintet if not already in the hall.
Most definitely and Amen! Huge Heart fan here. ;)
bttt
What cracks me up is that anybody cares who that queer ultra-liberal Jan Wenner puts in his silly “Hall”. I never heard of half the “hip hop artists” who are already in the stupid thing.
I will say, though, it’s a fun place to visit once (if you can handle Cleveland). Be sure to visit the “Rob Argent” display. Yeah, it has Rod’s name as “Rob Argent”.
Hey, my list would have luminaries like Gene Chandler and Wierd al. ;)
Gene Chandler, definitely. And Gene Pitney, for that matter.
Thanks for your correction.
Awesome link. Thanks! I’ve always and will always be a huge fan, but they were at their best during the D&B era. Love, love, love that first band line-up. I own one of Derosier’s snare drums from then (autographed, too). At least they’re still “kickin’ it out” though, and Ann can still wail. Look for a new album this summer. ;) Always nice to meet another fan!
>yeah, Im old
Beats the alternative, wouldn’t you say.
Alright, I see your hand, and raise you

Ultimate Spinach (Steely Dan’s well forgotten prequel.
Ah....the low spark of high heeled boys and John Barleycorn.
