They didn't say it would hit our atmosphere, just that it might come within the solar system. That allows a lot of room for us to slip by.

Yeah, but that’s just not alarmist enough for me.
I like my “IMMINENT IMPENDING DOOM!!!” scenarios a bit more intense so I tend to jazz them up a bit....;-D
