Thank you to those offering positive feedback about Pit Bulls. A Pit Bull HATES being tied to a chain, it's a form of animal abuse. Obviously they don't need to be tied like that and any owner or caretaker should be familiar with the Pit Bull's personality.
The Nephew had no business owning the dog to start with. He should have gotten a Lab.
It's not the Pit's fault, he's just an animal. He should have been fed FIRST because Pits like being first in line. And he should not have been on that chain.
A well trained Pit Bull who is socialized and not abused [and I've been around many, including two rescues who had previously been abused and neglected] will be a very loyal companion.

check out post 26... if only the poor pittie poo had been fed first, everything would have been okay.

No, I beg to differ. Feeding a dog first gives it the very wrong impression that it is the leader. Dogs need to understand in no uncertain terms that they eat after the leader, which in all cases, from chihuahua to Saint Bernard, must be the human being.
Google the “Nothing In Life Is Free” method of dog ownership, which is recommended by knowledgeable dog behaviorists specifically for those with dominant dogs.

Right. We used to have a Pit roaming the neighborhood because his owner thought the same as you. The land-shark jumped my 4 foot cyclone fence, growled once and snapped at my oldest pug
That Pit is currently fertilizing my garden.
