Thank you Meg, it was a trying 5 months. The poor guy took a lot of pills to control his heart and lung function, 22 pills a day. He rallied to spunkytown a few days after the meds started, had a good few months and in the last few weeks the coughing started up again, even with frequent ER visits for treatment. I miss him so. His head would normally rest on my lap as I type, or as I sat in my favorite chair at night. These dobermans just love human contact. But at least we have our Bart who will help us through the loss. He had an extra 5 months with us, while we slowly said goodbye. He had one special characteristic, he had one golden eye and one brown, so I called him “Golden Eye” sometimes. He was a neat dog. So smart. My Auntie Mickey who visited us from Colorado several times, said of Bailey “This one I’d take home with me.” She had dobermans many years ago and those are the ones that impressed me so much that we got one as our first dog after we were married.
