Well they only had two torpedoes each, and the wreck of one was found with the fish still in the tubes. So the number of hists possible would seem to be rather limited. The Oklahoma, assumed to be the ship it fired at based on the one photo that appears to show the sub's periscope, took six torpedoes. So even if the sub contributed two of them the ship was still doomed.
