So you want to learn history, Jersey? forgo Myrtle Beach, and go the extra distance to Charleston to see where it all began. You might swing by the Citadel to see a fine Southern Military College while you are there - you’ll begin to understand why Southern troops were the best then - and now - including Southern Generalship.

On your way back take a detour to Appomattox to see where it ended, and maybe a short jaunt to Lexington to visit the grave site of Gen Stonewall Jackson, and Lee Chapel wherein is interred the great American Gen Robert E Lee. Stroll over to see Virginia Military Institute for another fine example of a Military College in the fine Southern tradition.

Stop by Wilderness, Fredericksburg, and Manassas Battlefields, maybe Antietam, and definitely Gettysburg, too. Then you’ll start to be able to claim to be a student of Civil War History, instead of angrily pretending like you do now.
