Opt-out option for parents

Texas allows parents to opt out of inoculations by filing an affidavit objecting to the vaccine on religious or philosophical reasons.

If I recall correctly, Perry signed an Executive Order to mandate Gardasil for girls in TX, since he had a friend or relative who was either a Merck rep or who was paid to lobby Perry.

So, Nanny Perry issued a mandate to impose upon parents. Fortunately, public outcry forced him to withdraw the mandate.

Without getting into the extreme cases of parental neglect and such, I hope that parents can aways keep their sacred duty and responsibility to care for their children as they see fit - children are NOT products of the State (well, I know that depends on who you ask...).

The judgment of someone like Perry worries me, if he's willing to step into the parent-child bond like that, dispensing pharmaceuticals (vaccine) like that. One would think that someone would think twice before jumping on the mandate bandwagon for any medicine or treatment. I don't believe Perry is a MD.

Glad there were some awake Texans.
