MARIETTA, Ga. -- A pit bull attacked a 7-year-old girl Tuesday afternoon inside the Valley View Mobile Home Park in Marietta.
A neighbor saw the girl being bitten and stepped in to save her.
It was horrible, I've never seen anything like that in my life. The book bag and her boot were over here but by the time we pulled up she was over there, screaming for help, said Errol Jones.
Jones immediately sprung into action.
I didn't know what else to do but chase him away with a stick. I hit him two times, he left, he tried to charge at me, said Jones.
His sister took the girl to the hospital, with her leg badly injured.
The dog belongs to a family a few trailers away from Jones. Eduardo Velazquez said his sister-in-law found the pit bull about three months ago and kept him as a pet. He said the dog is kept on a chain, with a lock.
We don't know exactly what happened, said Velazquez. CBS Atlantas Jennifer Mayerle asked Velazquez if he feels at all responsible for what happened.
Well, like I say, it's not my dog, but we live right here and I think yes, we are responsible, said Velazquez.
The pit bull will be euthanized, and tested for rabies. Police tell CBS Atlanta doctors originally thought the girl's injury was so serious that she would lose her leg, but they now believe they can repair the damage. Police say without Jones' help, things may be much different. Im just glad I was here and God bless that little girl, said Jones.
There are two separate investigations in the case. Police plan to charge the dog's owners with getting loose, and depending on the seriousness of the girl's injuries, they could also be charged criminally. Police also investigating if any adults could be charged because police say the girl was alone when the attack happened.
Horrible stuff. Never have done it, but I might be inclined to rip the dogs front legs off his chest, or beat it to pulp if there was anything to pick up.
All Together Now,,,”He Don’t bite,,,He’s a Good Boy!!...
I know there are posters here that praise the merits of pit bulls but I just.don’t.get.it.
How many chances do pitbulls get ? Is Rachel Ray setting the standard - 8 or 9 ?
Personally, I think they should be outlawed.
2,000 children are killed every year by their parents, through abuse and neglect
(A child is 800 times more likely to be killed by their adult caretaker than by a Pit Bull)- - - - - - - —
So that makes it okay for Pit Bulls to lunch on little children?
Where did I say that?
No but you did imply it.
There’s no other reason to post those stats.
Your reasoning is deranged. The statistics imply that parents kill more children than pit bulls. Or all dogs for that matter.
Its the owners fault. You sound just like the anti-gun nuts who wanna bann all guns everytime there is a shooting.
same logic liberals use.
We kill more people than does the enemy, therefore “we” are the bad guys...
It has to do with morality.
No dog is worth endangering innocent life.
now you can start with your illogical analogies again...
My reasoning is deranged. You’re obviously a pit bull lover and attack to make your point, just like a pit bull !
I know what the statistics imply - parents kill more children than pitbulls. That’s your point.
This discussion is about pit bulls attacking children. You respond with a diversionary tactic — pit bulls aren’t as bad as parents.
Apples and Oranges.
Okey dokey. (backing away slowly)
I didn’t make an analogy. So much for your logic.
Your stat is faulty anyway.
Most everyone has at least one parent.
Not everyone has at least one pit bull.
Therefore by sheer odds alone a parent would be more likely to harm a child than a pit bull.
That said, a car would be more likely to harm a child than a pit bull. A slamming door would be more likely to harm a child than a pit bull. A fork would be more likely to harm a child than a pit bull.
That doesn’t change the fact that statistically pit bulls are a dangerous and unpredictable breed of dog.
APf
That doesnt change the fact that statistically pit bulls are a dangerous and unpredictable breed of dog.
That is not a fact. Many breeds of dogs attack and bite people for a lot of reasons.
I just had to chase my gun down the street ,,,
Whupped it with a stick,,,
It’s hidin’ under the bed now whinin’ for more ammo,,,
Baaad Gun!!!
None fer yew!...
LOL!
