I saw a strange young Asian comic on Craig Ferguson’s show the other night: one of his better jokes involved his claim that when he was born he was “the world’s youngest baby”.
He made the same claim for his one year old son, when HE was born......

Isn’t it kind of self-explanatory?
The unanswerable question posed by the title of this thread, brought to mind the equally illogical claim of this
comedian. See, EVERYONE can lay claim to being the world’s youngest baby. EVERYWHERE is the “farthest distance in the world” depending on where you’re standing.
Unless the question means: what is the longest measurable circumference on Planet Earth? , which would involve way too much figuring, and would imply an endlessly shifting set of starting points and ending points for measurement.

From my bed to my toilet at 3AM. One Christmas I had the audacity to go camping in the Mojave desert. Went to Nipton, CA and rented a campsite. That night, the fire in the wood stove went out. Winds picked up, and the tent flaps provided a nice staccato. Temp that night went down to 15 degrees - my sleeping bag and extra covers supplied the necessary warmth. 3AM, nature called. THAT was the longest distance!

Now you got me thinking, how to get close to that vast distance-——I mean REAL CLOSE, like molecule to molecule.
Whew! ! !

The polar diameter is less than the equatorial diameter which makes the difference between poles at their widest point about 20 miles or so shorter than the furthest distance between two points on the equator due to the equatorial bulge.I was thinking that too, but then I realized the shortest distance between equatorial antipodes is over one pole or the other! And this is the same as the inter-polar distance, since the elliptical polar cross section divides into four equal quadrants.
