I have 25+ years at the RF job. I, for one, don’t need a google search to tell me about RF engineering and digital communications. You do.

“Digital” communications ride on an RF carrier wave that is analogue, even when frequency hopping. In fact, there is no such thing as a digital electronic part. Digital is a form of description of an analogue technique. All digital components are made from analogue parts.

I call BS that you are an engineer.

You are grasping at straws. Everyone that knows anything about electronics and RF knows that TECHNICALLY, it is all analogue at the lowest level. Which does not mean a darn thing because when we talk about 'digital modulation' we aren't talking about the carrier wave. You are nitpicking the authors choice of words so you sound smarter than him. But, also assuming you know anything at all RF, you know his point is 100% sound. You know that modern RF traffic will be might less likely to be picked up and lighyears away compared to transmissions from 20 or 40 years ago. And you should know that it IS because of the modulation technologies now let us use much lower power. You should, if you know anything about RF communication, also know that those modulation types and standards are regularly referred to as DIGITAL, despite what the carrier looks like on an o-scope.
