In the early 1960's, Israel was one of the first states to invoke the principle of universal jurisdiction in its groundbreaking trial against Adolf Eichmann, the "architect of the Holocaust".
In the post-WWII years, British intelligence hunted down and killed a number of former Nazis who were involved in various wartime projects not deemed worthy of war crimes prosecution.
