Because a kitten has not imprinted itself on the consciousness of an owner as a cat or dog has. It is too new.

It is not about pain felt in animals. That is not relevant to the discussion. It is about what causes a person to INTENTIONALLY inflict what many people would interpret as “pain” on an animal. Animals do not have the self awareness that humans do. Their interpretation of nerve stimulus is limited compared to the interpretation of men, which have much more developed brains.

Do you remember how you interpreted nerve stimulus when you were a month old?
