Well, now we know why randy, Simon, et al have been saying this is going to be the girls year, because other than two or maybe three guys this night was a pathetic mess. Terrible performance after terrible performance.
Here are my rankings, although to be honest, there are only a couple that matter:
TOP TWO:
1A. Andrew Garcia Sugar, Were Going out Swinging I thought this was a fantastic performance. It wasnt a showstopper by any means, and Andrew can do a lot better; but this was quality singing.
1B. Casey James Heaven Loved everything about this performance. Casey is going to be in this competition for a long long time. He may be the next American Idol.
SECOND TIER:
3. Michael Lynche This Love Not Big Mikes best, but his soulful voice and sheer joy for performing shone through. Lots of room to grow.
4. Lee Dewyze Chasing Cars I love the Raspy voice, but this performance was all over the place. Great in spots, awful in others. But there is a lot of potential here. Sort of a Gokey Jr.
5. Alex Lambert Its A Wonderful World Surprising to me, I actually liked Alexs voice. I see potential, but this song was horrible. Not his performance, it was OK, but the song is horrible. Another example of todays utterly terrible song writing
.
6. Tyler Grady American Woman This was better than the judges thought in my opinion, but it was just good, not great, but Tyler gets lumped with Big Mike, Lee and Alex in the Has Potential group.
THE REST Doesnt really matter how these are listed because the all SUCKED big time, but I will list them in order of how bad they made my ears bleed.
12A. Tim Urban Apologize Tim got swallowed up by this song. You have to have a strong falsetto to sing this, Tim doesnt.
12B. Todrick Hall Since You Been Gone OK I am in the minority I am sure, I actually liked the arrangement Todrick did. HOWEVER, that doesnt mean it was a good performance. It Wasnt.
12C. John Park God Bless the Child You need a big voice, a lot of soul, and mucho amounts of feeling to sing this amazing song. John has none of the above, and he destroyed one of my favorite songs of all time.
12D. Joe Munoz You and I This was just painful. Offkey, whiney, teeth grinding painful. But not as bad as the next too.
12E. Aaron Kelly Here comes Goodbye GOODBYE can not come soon enough for this terrible singer. This was beyond painful. This was torture. Nasally, Whiney, off key. Sounded like someone killing a cat with a rusty chainsaw. BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD.
12F Jermaine Sellers Get Here I only thought Aaron perfected Bad. Jermaine resuscitated the cat Aaron killed, chopped it into itty bitty pieces and put it in a blender. I cant even describe how awful this trainwreck was.
SHOULD GO HOME: TIM, TODRICK, JOHN, JOE, AARON and JERMAINE. Please!!! Get rid of them all right now. They all suck canal water through a straw.
WILL GO HOME: Does it really matter? As long as it isnt Casey or Andrew the order they get voted off is a moot point. Six will be gone soon, and the other 4 will be the first 4 voted off in the final 12.
Great recap...so glad I erased the show off my dvr as I was so uninspired to watch the first half. Question...I forgot: Is it one gal one guy each to go or just two of the worst tomorrow eve?
Honeydo and I thought last night was the worst night in the history of the show. Let’s toss your bottom tier of guys and leave the gals in. I don’t like the forced equal number so far into the competition. Or cut both and fast forward the show.
