I thought that Portman’s speech at the Golden Globes in which she gushed about her fiance’s knocking her up were out of bounds. There are young women watching and not all of them are capable of raising children without serious help. She also made the comment in the presence of her parents who were sitting at her table. Very bad taste. Another celebrity who thinks she can say whatever stupid thoughts pop into her head.
Makes one wonder:
Is she “Jewish” by religion? As a practicing, loving, living-the-rules (liberal, conservative, reform or deform doesn’t matter - does she live your faith?)
Or by “race” - My mother was a Jew (of some kind or another) and therefore I am a Jew kind of “religion”?
Or by politics and lifestyle as defined by who parents or grandparents used to be? “I’m a NY/NY/LA Jew because I think, act, live, have been indoctrinated and politicized into voting and living liberal because everybody I know votes and lives liberal and I hate the “white-bread” suburban (American) lifestyle?”
