Still — landscaping, lawnmowing, farming, etc. are hardly “hobbies”. They’re either occupations or household chores. Calling “gardening” a manly hobby when referring to landscaping is like calling dishwashing a womanly hobby.
And, if they’re referring to “gardening” in the traditional hobby sense of the word — it ain’t manly.

Sometimes it just feels good to go and plant another tree. I never considered taking care of the grounds a chore or an occupation, more like a pleasant way to spend some time.
Now, gardening per se, I can see how it can be wussified, however, being able to grow one's own food sufficiently to sustain one's self and family, I can get behind, manly or not.
Afer all, need some veggies along side the venison on the plate.
