My favorite in this vein, and very appropriate in this context, is the story of Richard Loeb, of Leopold and Loeb infamy. He was apparently a very aggressive homosexual in prison until one day, in the showers, he put the moves on the wrong guy. The guy stabbed him to death. When the Chicago Daily News ran the story, the first paragraph read, "Richard Loeb, despite his erudition, today ended a sentence with a proposition."

Unfortunately, this one seems to come under "too good to be true." People going back to the Daily News articles on Loeb's death have failed to find that lead.
