In the spirit of the current thread "Best Films of all Time?", I just have to ask for the other end of the spectrum.
I don't mean "Night of the Lupus", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", or other standard bad/forgettable films. I don't mean just box-office flops. I want to see tour-de-force bad.
If you want to see the worst movie ever made, then attempt to watch “Intermedio” starring Edward Furlong (2007).
I challenge anyone to endure twenty minutes of this movie!
“Space Raiders”
A kid carries a space bug around in a beer can for half the movie before he releases it on an alien planet.
Plot Synopsis:
Hawk (Vince Edwards), formerly a colonel in the space service, nowadays ekes out a living as a space pirate, doing jobs for the unsavoury likes of alien gangster Zariatin (Ray Stewart). He and his motley crew get more than they bargained for when during a heist, a ten year old boy named Peter (David Mendenhall) stows away aboard their spacecraft. On discovering the disappearance of their son, Peter’s wealthy parents launch a search for him. Despite the fact that space piracy is Hawk’s main priority, he promises the boy he will get him back to his home planet.
Production details:
Many of the space scenes, and all the music, were taken from Battle Beyond the Stars (1980).
WORST MOVIE EVER!!!
I have to disagree.
Highlander 2 was a very IMPORTANT film.
It was a warning about the hysteria and subsequent enslavement due to lies about the ozone/environment if I remember correctly....but as far as entertainment goes, yep, it was crap...
If you think that's bad......what do you consider good?
The Big Lebowski
“9”.
We purchased it at Best Buy on a whim right after Christmas. It looked charming, and I usually love Tim Burton’s work.
Its only redeeming qualities would have been the animation and design, but the “story” - and I do use the term loosely - sucked giant moose nuts and rendered everything else meaningless. BF knew it about ten minutes in; I said, let’s give it a chance, something may develop. It never did, and before I knew it the credits were running and I was wondering how I was going to get $20 and 80 minutes of my life back. I’m still pissed about having wasted money on this absolute rip-off.
Without reading the thread, my answer is set: Congo
The absolute worst movie ever was Billie Jack.
I
juuuuuuuuust
get
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddd
A close second would have to be Dirty Dancing.
Beaches.
Dune is not a subset of anything. It was positively the worst film every made. I too am very familiar with the books and I had not a clue as to what was going on in the movie.
By familiar, I mean that I read it every year for a decade or so. I still can’t figure out how they glued the dinner plates to the fat guy’s (Baron Harkonen?) belt and had him float around.
It probably could be made into a decology of movies but the novels are so dense that it might take two movies per novel to do it justice. FX are so much better now that when it was made that it might just be worth it.
Blasphemy!
;-)
“The Mist”. The only film that’s ever made me shout “F-— YOU!” at my television. The ending is the most rotten, ugly, pointless, thoughtless thing I’ve ever seen.
All MST3K fans would agree with that list.
The Bostonians.
The absolutely worst film ever ... “Laser Blast”, made in the 60s. I took the kids to the drive-in movie to see it, and they did everything but barf. From then on, whenever we talked about a truly bad move, one of them would pipe up and ask, “Was it as bad as LaserBlast?” It bacame the floor against which all bad movies were compared.
We need a sub-category: Bad movies that are very enjoyable.
Mine would include: Phantom of the Paradise and all of the “Coffin Joe” movies....
Definitely, one of the worst ever.
I actually PAID MONEY to see this in the theater.
One of the guys I went with came out and said "Someone must have had a gun to Sean Connery's wife's head, to get him to act in that movie."
It's got to be in the top 5 all time baddies.
Reds.
The only movie I have actually got up and walked out of.
