Worst Films of All Time?

Posted on 01/06/2010 9:42:42 AM PST by ctdonath2

In the spirit of the current thread "Best Films of all Time?", I just have to ask for the other end of the spectrum.

I don't mean "Night of the Lupus", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", or other standard bad/forgettable films. I don't mean just box-office flops. I want to see tour-de-force bad.

I nominate Quintet - a Paul Newman end of the world movie ( It gets cold, people die, gets colds, more die, colder... you get it - everybody dies...) ( A sorry waste of life minutes, although Al Gore should really watch it.) and then of course theirs OH DAD POOR DAD, a movie with johnathan winters as a corpse in a coffin who doesn’t speak ... Even though he’s the headline star...Again another waste of precious life minutes.

Howard the Duck-—interplanetary species love...blech

Filmed in my old home town of Rio Vista, CA. And in it is my best friend, Mr. William McGovern, marching down Main Street past the Flamingo Bar and Fosters Big Horn Restaurant. I sure do miss that town and those days sometimes.

Your suggestion of “History of the World, Part 2”, reminded me of the worst Mel Brooks movie, and a contender for worst of all time: Silent Movie. Even Burt Reynolds couldn’t save that movie.

“No Country for Old Men” - Worst. Movie. Ever.

I totally agree. Saying it's horrid is far too kind.

Another two movies that I hated:

The Fisher King-starring Robin Williams

and

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Both are Terry Gilliam movies. I didn't really care for the first, but I really liked the second, though I'm the only person I know that did. I REALLY loved Brazil. I was lucky enough to see it on a big screen. It was the most visually stunning movie I had ever seen. Still amazing on a TV, though.

"Memento."

I shut if off half-way through, and went and got drunk.

Jarmusch's Coffee and Cigarettes. Starts out incredibly awful and just gets worse...

Watch it, it shows how to save unrelated footage and make a movie that sells.

Zardoz. I have no idea why martin likes it so much, unless it's the costumes.

What would you consider to be a good movie?

I think a whole thread could be done about Robin Williams movies, good and bad. One of my favorite books of all time was “The World According to Garp”. A terrible movie.

“The Fisher King”, However, I believe is a powerful movie.

Only because I saw it recently: “It Runs in the Family,” the misbegotten sequel to “A Christmas Story.” Ludicrous.

So how about “The Neverending Story”??? I call it the neverending movie.

So how can they have a Neverending Story II if the first one is never-ending?
