Texas Tech head football athletic trainer Steve Pincock said Red Raiders receiver Adam James was placed in a "sports medicine garage" and media room as "big as a two-car garage" while recovering from a concussion, and was monitored by two trainers at all times.
Pincock's account of the incident, given in a statement to representatives of former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, contradicts James' version of events that led to Leach being fired Wednesday.
James, who is the son of ESPN college football analyst Craig James, sustained a concussion on Dec. 16. He was examined the following day and told not to practice because of the injury and an elevated heart rate.

[If Craig James was using a company phone to do his dirty work, ESPN is also implicated.]
this isn’t the same as a politician using a gov phone....ESPN benefited in the scoop......
You are what we call a "non-reader." I didn't even intimate the above. It is clear that Leach has made a public campaign against the character of Adam James and is attempting to make the student's character the issue. It isn't the issue. I will stipulate that Adam James is a nancy-boy. Know what that changes in this situation? Nada.
That’s a very simple one to answer. Adams had not been diagnosed with a concussion at the time of the shed incident, and Leach suspected the kid was a malingerer. The kid wanted playing time without putting in the effort.
Placing someone in a dark environment and having your medical staff check on him after a period of time is a pretty common way to check for concussion.
More non-reading from you. I enjoy your rather non-thoughtful contributions.
Cussing doesn't bother me in college sports. Or pro. Or by my neighbor, as long as it's not around my 4-year-old.
Leach was right to go after both the University and the James family.
The salient point in the discussion. Leach got fired in the end over money. Cry-baby parent + disgruntled booster + wimpy administrator = screw job for the coach.
You nailed it, both on the James issue and the voidness of another poster!
[The fact is that Leach treated a kid with a diagnosed injury in a punitive fashion.]
how was he supposed to react to the little spoiled brat who was acting like a ROCK STAR at practice??? Leach was obviously fed up with the kids lack of “character”
James was diagnosed with a concussion on the 17th by Phy. When was he “monitored” in the shed?
The fact that Leach is campaigning against "Baby James" doesn't mean that Adam James isn't a soft kid of low moral character. It also is irrelevant. Leach is running a PR campaign against the easiest target.
Leach has no one to blame but himself in this incident. But his pride doesn't allow him to see that.
Leach has been campaigning against Adam James since this came public. You think Harrell wasn't asked to write a letter about James? The position coaches?
James isn't the issue. He has a doctor's note. Leach only has his dumb actions.
Again, you have no proof that Leach asked anyone to write letters, let alone the content of the letters. You simply won’t deal with facts.
Way too low. There is also the remaining part of the contract to contend with. I see Leach going for a jury trial and asking for punititve damages also. This will cost the school several million and maybe more.
There are certainly plenty of people who don't deal with facts on this thread.
Is cussing a kid out the standard protocol for dealing with a concussion? You haven't addressed that on any discussion of this issue. And you won't.
Every commander in the Army has two primary missions. Accomplish the mission and take care of the troops. All commanders also have a boss, and their people skills include dealing with that boss as well as others. Coach Leach’s boss apparently decided that his ends didn’t justify his means; that he accomplished his mission on the field at the expense of his troops. I say apparently because that is the conclusion I have come to. You can come to a different conclusion but just accept the fact that yours is just an opinion as is mine. Neither one of us has a monopoly on the truth, but neither will learn if we fail to listen to opposing points of view. Finally. Anyone who thinks a university chancellor would disrupt a huge money maker like Tech football in order to save $800,000 is naive.
He signed an employee code of conduct form when he was hired, like every university employee in the US. It includes a provision to obey the university directives of his superiors as long as they are lawful and connected to the execution of his job. If he gets a lot more money, it is not a triumph of justice.
