LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech has fired football coach Mike Leach.
The school handed a termination letter to Leach's attorney, Ted Liggett, on Wednesday just before the two sides were to appear in a Lubbock, Texas, courtroom for a hearing on the coach's suspension.
Liggett says the letter says Leach is "terminated with cause effective immediately."

What mitigating facts do you have?
I know what the official said. There’s a link on another thread to a local Lubbock station that has done far more factual reporting on this than ESPN has. Go check it out. It includes video of the ‘shed’ and the ‘electrical closet’.
Kent Hance said that he tried bto help Leach but Leach was haed headed and refused to be helped and that he was insubordinate and that he was not going to tolerate any more of Leacch’s insubordination.
Hance is probably the most Conservative Chancellor of any major public University in the country.
I’ll go with him anytime over some fat assed dumb assed Coach.
Whether he was forced to stand in the Hilton or a shed is immaterial. He faced punitive action for an injury. That’s unacceptable. No matter how much of a “nancy” he is on the field and at practice.
There is nothing wrong with a cool, dark place for someone suffering from effects of a concussion. Punitive? Because he couldn't go back to his dorm and miss practice? Because he wasn't on the field with the rest of the team and allowed to wear sunglasses on the sidelines? I swear you, ESPN and the James family are making it sound like the kid was being waterboarded. This same PC mentality is just sickening.
Again, if Hance had enough of his insubordination, why renew his contract?
It was obviously punitive. Leach cussing him out before “following doctor’s orders” (speaking of laughable) and putting him in the shed is a pretty clear indication of that. I’m sure a biology prof at Tech could cuss out a student who was unable to take a test because of an injury with impunity and the university is just picking on ol’ Mike. Poor Mike.
you’re gonna believe Kent Hance, the west Texs democrat? And what was the problem?
Do you have a problem with singling out an athlete, because that happens everyday.
Do you have a problem with sending someone to a dark room to protect the concussion he got 2 weeks prior?
Do you have a problem with a player being sent to the place the offensive line goes to when it is hot?
Do you have a problem with three people including the team doctor looking after him?
What is apology worthy?
Dumb coach, huh? He has bested Mack Brown, Bob Stoops, Jeff Tedford, Al Groh, Mike Gundy, Bo Pelini, Gary Pinkel, Bill Snyder and others.
Man, he must be real dumb to do that.
Or is he dumb because he got a Juris Doctor at Pepperdine Law?
Or, are you just a knee jerk reactionary liberal that takes the word of academia and the media without looking at facts?
You should hear Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio. Talk about circling the wagons and acting the like ultimate moral authority.
The Dallas Morning News has obtained e-mails pertaining to Leach's contract renewal. It's obvious the administration renewed his contract due to public pressure. They were planning on firing him within the first year of the new deal and that's why they backloaded the contract with the $800,000 bonus due on Dec. 31.
As Leach said, the truth will come out. Looks like it is already starting.
If there was nothing to the story, I highly doubt TT would have fired the coach. The horse is dead, you can let up now.

As soon as you stop beating yours.
Since you dont like how the argument turned out, you are going to declare the story over?
Unless you are trying to be uninformed, you could easily find out the AD wanted Leach gone before this.
He was dumb enough to get his fat ass fired.
I’ve had a job where my boss wanted to fire me. Know what I did? I didn’t give them a good reason.
“Ive had a job where my boss wanted to fire me. Know what I did? I didnt give them a good reason.”
Exactly!
Daddy Bear Craig has been all over ESPN telling his side of the story.
Truth be known, I bet Craig expected to "win" this battle without it going public and didn't count on the negative publicity.
Craig must have been unaware of how unpopular his son is with his teamates.
