The ice hockey rink is all set up at Fenway Park, in anticipation of the New Years Day meeting of the Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins.
The game starts at 1 PM Eastern time on NBC. For those with the NHL Network, there are pre game and post game programs scheduled.
James Taylor is slated to sing the National Anthem, and with the recent snow storms in the northeast, the cold, windy, Boston weather could make this game an instant classic!

LOL...not sure. I grew up in Connecticut playing pond hockey. University of Connecticut (not a hockey power house) played their games in an outdoor rink when I was growing up.

Thomas screwed that up pretty good...but he was doing the job his defensemen should have been doing.

Bruins on the power play in the overtime.

WOW! What an awesome finish!
Funny, my first thought was, what a coincidence that # 16 scored (Bobby Clarke’s number) to win it against Philly!

Great ending, using youth skaters to represent the Americans selected to the US Olympic Team.
And I turned it over, just in time to see Penn State win in a horribly muddy field, 19-17, over LSU.

What a great game! The only thing I would’ve changed woulad have been to have the players acknowledge the old stars a bit more when they came on the ice. Just tap the stick or wave or something.

I agree. It was a chance for the NHL to showcase the history of hockey to the masses.
Clarke was on the ice. Orr wasn’t. Tends to indicate it wasn’t part of the thought process.

Orr seemed to interact with them more before they stepped on the ice and the players just skated wide of Clarke.
Personally, I would have preferred more background on hockey and the two teams playing versus the history of Fenway and baseball. It sure was fun to watch.
Thanks for keeping the ping list going and posting to all of us.
