I’m always shocked at how much people are asking for houses, and *for what*! We’ve been in this house more than six years, so maybe we’ll stay here until we can live in something smaller!

I looked at one today that had dry rot on the floors, a hugh hole right through a wall, broken closet doors, missing kitchen cabinets, and ruined carpet. The price was $31,000. It would cost twice that to “fix” it.

There is another one that has a wall heater and evap cooler and the owners want $120,000 for it. Flat top, two bedroom 640 sq. ft.

And I’ve seen everything in between. I’ll still look on Friday, but the more I see of these homes, the more I understand why Henderson wants someone to buy them and fix them up. One just has to have deep pockets to “fix” a lot of them.

This one is 1558 sq ft on 1/4 acre.

Workday over. A difficult afternoon producing a "Use Case" document, one of two I am on the hook for. Almost there, with tables and charts and diagrams, but understanding the "Narrative" section (text description of what's going on) eluded me until just before it was time to come home. With a little luck I'll be able to complete both documents this week because after Tuesday I will have NO time for them and our Association is supposed to deliver these (20 or 30 or so) on the 30th. I am beat.

Housing here remains very expensive, though the house across the street has dropped in price close to the value of ours. It's a real pity -- the owner when we moved in had done a tremendous job of upgrading the place; house and grounds were gorgeous and when it sold it was half again the value of our house. A Microsoft couple bought it but a month later they were transferred away. It sat for a while and then another Microsoft couple bought it... and basically took no care of it at all.
